As the people of God, we can accomplish so much for His Kingdom with a little dedication and commitment. Unfortunately, these are characteristics that are sometimes lacking in churches. We are usually pretty dedicated to our secular endeavours.

We get to work early because we don't want to get fired and loose our income. We put in what ever time is needed to attend classes and study because we want to pass our exams, get our degrees and do't want our money to be wasted. We push ourselves and make sacrifices for our children and our families. We follow sports without fail, cancelling other activities to see a game.

I know what it is like to be totally dedicated to a cause and not see the level of returns hoped for. I know what it is like to work yourself till you can't work any more, in pursuit of much needed finances, only to ask yourself if it was really worth it. The money doesn't stretch as far as you thought it would, or something unexpected comes up and you have to spend it. We can dedicate a whole lot into causes and still come up short. Wouldn't you rather dedicate yourself to things that are guaranteed beyond a shadow of a doubt to reap rewards?

Jesus tells us in the Bible that if we put this level of commitment to advancing His work and His Kingdom, that all the other things which are important to us will be taken care of. It is a mistake to believe that you have to neglect God's Work in order to sustain yourself, or in order to have fun. Why seek these things from the world, when God is able and more than willing to supply them? Wouldn't you rather someone as rich, wise and powerful as God to look after your interests? I'm sure He can do a much better job that I can, and He's ready and willing to do so; All He asks is that we take care of His business, and let Him take care of ours.

Today, we are happy to announce the launch of our All New Website for 2012. This is the 6th incarnation of welchescm.com and one of the more ambitious versions to date. We have completely rewritten the website (from a code perspective) and completely redesigned the pages. We have also redesigned the Worship Library for consistency with the rest of the site.

The look and feel of a website are very important, but the real reason we use websites is because of the content. The new Worship Library now boasts 200 songs, and your Webmaster is committed to making this section as comprehensive as it can be. Songs will be added as t he year progresses and there are plans for further resources and song info to be provided. Also of note, songs in the Library can now be viewed without leaving the page. While this experience works more seamlessly in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, users of Internet Explorer will still receive a satisfactory experience.

The Media section cannot be left out, and will feature videos and edited sermons more regularly. At launch, we have a video of our recent trip to Messiah's House, Lisa Ramsey's dance to the song "Holy" and the 2011 Year in Review.

Socially, you can now add us to your circles on Google Plus. Our FaceBook page is still active, as is the YouTube Channel and the Social Network.

We hope that you enjoy our work on this new site, and look forward to your participation for the rest of the year and beyond.

PLEASE NOTE: If you still see old pages, click refresh / reload on your browser.

In September 2008, as part of our church's anniversary, we held a Trivia Trek night. This was a night of trivia, produced in true game-show fashion, complete with electronic scoreboard and category selection. This year, as part of our island's Independence celebrations, we will be holding our second Trivia Trek, a Bajan edition. Some of the categories which were popular in the first Trivia Trek have been ported over into this new theme, and it promises to be even more fun than the first.

Our objectives in this Trivia Trek are a little different from the previous one, though. We want you to have fun, but ultimately we want you to leave knowing more about Barbados than you did before. We want to give you an appreciation for things you may have never really thought about.

As the weeks pass, we will be sharing more info with you on this event so stay tuned.

The Word has been coming to us. The call has gone forth for us to launch our nets into the deep. To redo the things we would have tried before and failed. This is a season of success, a season of reaping, a season of harvest, of recovery and restoration.

The Word of the Lord has come today for us to put our houses in order. To get our lives right and be obedient to God's commands. You see, blessings and breakthroughs are coming but the Lord cannot reward disobedience. To do so would be a contradiction of His very Word.

Let us strive to repent pf whatever we need to. Let's ask the Lord to search us so that we can benefit from the awesome things God is about to shower on His people.

This morning our Pastor delivered a message on the topic "Thanksgiving". We heard about the importance of giving thanks and praise unto the Lord and about the fact that it should be done regardless of your circumstance. Thanksgiving isn't dependent on what you have or don't have. It's not dependent on your present, past or future circumstance. Whatever problem you are facing you should give thanks to the Lord, for He is good and His mercies endure forever. We also looked at a lot of verses about thanksgiving. Our main verse was 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (New King James Version)

"in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

The Lord also took the opportunity to share his heart about the fact that we need to trust Him and not the system of this world. We are taught that we have to go to school and then to a college and university and you will end up in a good job. The principles of God say that you should seek God's Kingdom and His righteousness and the rest will be taken care of. Things that are not possible in this world system are possible in God's kingdom. the bottom line is we need to walk in the Spirit and believe that the One who sent us is going to take care of us. We need to trust God and Give Him Thanks instead of being anxious about our troubles.
